The Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, also known as America’s Lighthouse, is the tallest brick beacon in the country standing 208 feet. The familiar black and white spiral-striped landmark serves as a warning to mariners of submerged and shifting sandbars.

Celebrating 75 years as America’s longest running symphonic drama, The Lost Colony tells the story of the 117 men, women and children who sailed from Plymouth, England over 400 years ago, in an attempt to settle on Roanoke Island. They vanished just two years later. The Lost Colony is their story.
JENNETTE’S FISHING PIER

Originally built in 1939, Jennette’s is the oldest fishing pier on the Outer Banks. Battered by storms & rebuilt many times throughout its seventy-year life, Jennette’s was knocked down by Hurricane Isabel in 2003, just after the pier & its five-acre tract were purchased by the NC Aquarium Society.
JOCKEY’S RIDGE STATE PARK

This 426-acre park has the largest natural living sand dune on the East Coast. Two self-guided trails and nature programs available year-round. Hang gliding, kite flying, hiking, visitor’s center, small gift shop, museum, picnic facilities and restrooms.
CURRITUCK BEACH LIGHTHOUSE

Located in the town of Corolla, the Currituck Beach Light was the last of four beacons placed at intervals from Cape Henry, Virginia to Cape Hatteras. It’s beacon filled the remaining “dark spot” along the coast of North Carolina. This lighthouse stands 162 feet, 214 steps to the top and approximately 1 million bricks.
Bodie Island Lighthouse is located eight miles south of the US 158 and US 64 intersection, west of NC 12, just north of Oregon Inlet.This 156-foot structure and its distinctive black and white bands was built only a few years later by the same crew that constructed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. The tower’s massive base is open to those wishing to see inside it from Memorial Day through Labor Day, 10 AM to 4 PM.
