Thank you for taking the time to explore us here at the Outer Banks Motor Lodge. Whether you are new to our site or a returning guest we want to fill you in on the journey of OBML.
At age 14, Eddie Miller started his career working as a pool boy, desk clerk, and utility person here at the Outer Banks Motor Lodge under Mr. and Mrs. John Bell. In 1988, along with his wife Lou, Eddie purchased the very motel that he had worked in as a teenage boy. The Miller family ran the motel until 2002, when Eddie and Lou sold it, believing that was the end of their motel journey.
But as it turns out the Miller’s got back in the game a few years later, 10 to be exact. Their youngest daughter, Alexandra (or Alex as most of you know her) had graduated college from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a degree in business management and after working in the restaurants along side her sister she wanted something to call her own. So, in 2012 Eddie, Lou, and Alex were back to owning and running the Outer Banking Motor Lodge.
To add another twist to the story, in 2015, Alex married Josh Saunders, the son of the man who sold the motel back to her parents. Alex and Josh joined their two families together and added an addition of their own in October of 2016.
After a few years of juggling her family business, Alex has decided to take a small step back from the motel and enjoy more time with her children. To help fill in the gap at the motel, she did not have to look past the front desk. Linda Sabadic, who has been our front desk clerk for a few years now was up for the challenge. With Alex’s help and guidance, Linda will be able to step in and co-mange with Alex. Linda and Alex have a proven productive, creative working relationship and friendship.
We are all excited about starting the new season and for the future of Outer Banks Motor Lodge.
